Mastic Volunteer Ambulance Company (MVAC) Fleet Overview

The Mastic Volunteer Ambulance Company (MVAC) has a well-rounded and versatile fleet designed to handle a wide range of emergency situations. Their vehicles ensure efficient response times and adaptability for different environments, from shoreline emergencies to large-scale events.

MVAC operates a diverse fleet of emergency response vehicles to provide high-quality emergency medical services to the community. Their fleet includes:

Four Ambulances

  • Fully equipped for medical emergencies and patient transport.
  • Two ambulances feature 4x4 capability, ensuring response readiness in harsh winter conditions and difficult-to-reach shoreline locations.

Three First Responder Vehicles

  • ALS Responder (Advanced Life Support): A 4x4 SUV dedicated to ALS-level emergencies.
  • BLS Responder (Basic Life Support): A 4x4 SUV designated for BLS calls.
  • Backup Support SUV: A spare 4x4 vehicle used as needed.
  • These vehicles allow personnel to reach emergency scenes quickly ahead of an ambulance.

Support Van

  • A 10-passenger van used for transporting personnel during standbys, large-scale incidents, or special events.

Bicycle Response Units

  • Two Trek Bicycles equipped with BLS medical supplies.
  • Ideal for crowded events where traditional emergency vehicles cannot navigate easily.

Specialty Response Units

  • 6x6 John Deere Gator with an open-air patient transport unit, ideal for off-road or remote area rescues.
  • Two 4x4 Chief SUVs, which function as Mobile Command Posts during large-scale operations.

Continuous Fleet Upgrades

MVAC regularly evaluates and upgrades its fleet to meet the evolving needs of the community. Fleet numbers may change due to operational demands, donations, or equipment upgrades.

This diverse fleet ensures that MVAC is well-prepared to respond effectively, no matter the situation—whether it's a medical emergency, a major public event, or a hard-to-reach location.
